Step Inside the Series
For readers who want compact stories that hit like a shot and echo long after.
WHO it’s for:
A Character With A Gun is for crime thriller lovers, suspense and noir aficionados, and folks with just enough airs to consider themselves literary enthusiasts. They like their drama deadly, their crimes quick, and their characters flawed and dirty. If you feel like that’s you, you’ve come to the right place. 😈
WHAT it’s about:
This is a series of bite-sized stories (1,000 words or less) that dive into what happens the moment someone picks up a gun. It’s a chilling exploration of fear, impulse, and the quiet, devastating echoes of a single choice.
It’s also for those readers who don’t always get time to read all the stories they’d like. Good fiction doesn’t need twelve hours of your life. It can be short and sharp, built to hit fast and stay with you long after you’ve moved on.
The right story can do that.
That’s exactly what these stories do.
A little about the series AUTHOR:
Hi! My name is Francelia Belton, and I write crime stories because committing a real one would disappoint my family.
As a kid, I got hooked on shows like Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone. Inspired by what amazing tales could be told in half an hour, I was naturally drawn to short fiction.
I published a mini-collection titled Crime & Passion: Three Short Stories, and my stories have also appeared in anthologies published by Akashic Books, Shotgun Honey Presents, Rock and a Hard Place Press, and other literary outlets.
You can learn more about me here.
What to EXPECT:
Weekly stories that drop you into a new world with fresh characters, settings, and consequences.
Monthly updates about other short story publications, guest appearances, and the winner of the month for the random drawing subscriber giveaway.
And anything else that comes up, like collaborations with publishers, book bloggers, or other authors to run monthly promotions like more giveaways and prizes, etc.
Your TURN:
Tell me your favorite crime or noir story; what is the one story you read that you’ll always remember?
I can tell you mine. It is Jordan Harper’s “Lucy in the Pit.” It’s from his Love and Other Wounds collection.
The reason it’s so powerful for me is that I’m not a dog owner. In fact, I don’t even have a cat, hamster, or pig. 😆 But this story hit me. I mean, I cried literal tears at the end of this one. The relationship between this dog and her owner was so profound that it was almost enough for me to be like, yeah, maybe I should get a dog too. And nope, that didn’t happen. However, the story has stayed with me nonetheless.
So tell me, what is the story that you’ll never forget? I wanna know so I can check it out. Thx!!
And see you on the flip side!
